On May 17, 2021, the United Kingdom launched its new Red, Amber, and Green list rules for entering the UK. The U.S., Canada, and most EU countries currently sit on the Amber List, which means a 10-day quarantine for travelers arriving from these countries, including Brits returning from popular vacation destinations like Spain.

With summer travel season on the horizon and the UEFA EURO 2020 Championship (yes, “2020” vs. “2021”) scheduled to start in June, the UK is under pressure to add more countries to the green (quarantine-free) list. The list is re-evaluated every three weeks, so we expect more news around May 28 and will update this article at that time.

Here’s what you need to know.
