The Milan Furniture Expo, also known as Salone del Mobile, is an annual international furniture fair held in Milan, Italy. This year it will be held from April 18-23, 2023.

It is considered one of the most important events in the world of design and furniture, showcasing the latest trends and innovative, sustainability-oriented products from around the globe, featuring the best of art, creativity, and green. Moreover, the Fuori Salone events, taking place concurrently with the Salone itself, add value to the whole offer and make Milan a much-awaited must-go event.

The fair attracts designers, manufacturers, architects, and furniture enthusiasts from all over the world to come together and share their ideas and creations. It features a diverse range of products, from classic to modern and contemporary styles, and serves as a platform for the industry to showcase their products and establish business connections.

If you are operating to Milan for this event or during this period, we recommend that trip planning arrangements begin as soon as possible. Our Universal Aviation Italy office is ready to help, assist and cater to all your needs.

The following is an overview of what you need to know:

Best Milan Furniture Expo airport options

Linate Airport

The nearest airports to Fiera Milano are Milan Linate (LIML) Airport which is 10.5 miles away and  Milan Malpensa (LIMC) (19.3 miles). Both airports are popular business aviation options with dedicated GAT.

The Salone is held in two different venues, downtown Milan (Fuori Salone) and Rho Fiera Milano (the Salone). The choice of the airport to operate depends on the venue you are going to visit. Please consider that during Milan Furniture Expo general aviation (GA) parking is not expected to be an issue at either airport.

During the Milan Furniture Expo, there are various parties and events held throughout the city, typically hosted by designers, manufacturers, and other industry professionals. These events can take place in a variety of venues, such as showrooms, galleries, and other event spaces. Popular neighborhoods for parties and events include Brera, Tortona, and Porta Venezia. Hotels, catering, and local transport

For local transport during Milan Furniture Expo, we recommend prepaid transport (car with driver) or public taxis arranged by your ground handler. You can get a free quote for ground transportation through Universal-Drivania Chauffeurs.

During the Milan Furniture Expo, accommodation may be a problem due to the high number of requests and the number of guests. Attendees can choose from a variety of accommodation options, including hotels, apartments, and hostels. Many people prefer to stay in hotels located in the city center, which offer easy access to the fairgrounds and other attractions. Popular neighborhoods for lodging include the Brera, Porta Garibaldi “City Life”, and Navigli areas. Additionally, there are several hotels located in the Rho district near the Fiera Milano exhibition center where the fair is held. Some attendees also choose to stay in nearby cities and towns, such as Como or Monza, and commute to the fair every day. Universal Aviation Italy is at your disposal to help you book your accommodation in advance, suggesting suitable options for your crew and passengers.

Caterers are available at both airports, and your ground handler can provide menus on request.

For information on catering options, you can contact Air Culinaire Worldwide.

Conclusion

While we do not expect operators to encounter overnight parking issues at either LIML or LIMC during the upcoming Milan Furniture Expo, but it’s always best to confirm parking and required services as early as possible. Also, hotels will be in high demand, so it’s recommended that this is obtained in advance.
