{"id":39745,"date":"2022-02-28T09:56:15","date_gmt":"2022-02-28T15:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/?p=39745"},"modified":"2025-03-28T14:34:11","modified_gmt":"2025-03-28T19:34:11","slug":"easa-environmental-registration-mandate-what-business-aviation-operators-need-to-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/easa-environmental-registration-mandate-what-business-aviation-operators-need-to-know\/","title":{"rendered":"EASA Environmental Registration Mandate \u2013 What business aviation operators need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A fast-approaching March 2022 deadline is nearing, requiring certain aircraft to comply with the European Union\u2019s Environmental Safety Administration (EASA) new Environmental Registry mandate.<\/p>\n<p>The mandate applies to civil fixed-wing aircraft with a maximum certificated take-off mass of 34 000 kg or more <strong><u>or<\/u><\/strong> with a certificated maximum internal accommodation for the aircraft type in question consisting of 19 passenger seats or more, excluding any seats for crew only.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/aircraft-operations\/international\/europe\/easa-environmental-registration-deadline-fast-approaching\/?utm_medium=email&amp;_hsmi=204258162&amp;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-84q92bvr9UOKtHYzfxUZDbUTJKvfuOQshBkZRro9XM6DrIeXhT0JKimsKidcY17Kr1WI3HyzCJoUM_j2J3Jn7aI1iaZQ&amp;utm_content=204258162&amp;utm_source=hs_email\">mandate applies to Part 91 and 135 operators<\/a> even though Part 135 already provides environmental information through the third-country operator (TCO) portal. The process is a little more demanding for N-registered aircraft. The mandate also applies to both Non-EU and EU-registered aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Complying with the new mandate is a manual, time-consuming process requiring ongoing maintenance and the risk of missed deadlines.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s everything you need to know about complying with the new mandate and how <a href=\"https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/products-and-services\/regulatory\/\">Universal\u2019s Global Regulatory Services Team<\/a> can assist.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What is the deadline for completing the registration?<\/h2>\n<p>The original deadline was Dec. 31, 2021. However, it\u2019s been extended until the end of March 2022.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What is the EASA Environmental Portal?<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/environmentalportal.easa.europa.eu\/SitePages\/Home.aspx\">EASA Environmental Portal<\/a> is a database enabling a secure online submission of the individual aircraft noise data (noise certificate or the equivalent noise documentation) by aircraft operators.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Is this different than the information Part 135 operators submit through the TCO portal?<\/h2>\n<p>Yes. While much of the information is redundant, this is a separate requirement.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What noise information is included in the registration?<\/h2>\n<p>The noise information includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Aircraft nationality and registration mark<\/li>\n<li>Noise documentation of the aircraft used, together with the associated maximum take-off weight<\/li>\n<li>Any modification of the aircraft which affects its noise performance, as it is stated on the noise documentation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>How to access the EASA registration portal<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/downloads\/120916\/en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-39749\" src=\"https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/easa-portal.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"733\" height=\"633\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/easa-portal.png 733w, https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/easa-portal-300x259.png 300w, https:\/\/www.universalweather.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/easa-portal-400x345.png 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 733px) 100vw, 733px\" \/><\/a>To access the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/document-library\/application-forms\/foapman00146\">portal<\/a>, operators must first complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/downloads\/120916\/en\">user registration form<\/a> and then email it to <a href=\"mailto:environmentalportal@easa.europa.eu\">environmentalportal@easa.europa.eu<\/a>. If this is your first request for registration to the EASA Environmental Portal, and your legal entity does not have EASA Environmental Portal account yet, you will need to register as a Master User, and you will need to submit multiple documents which are listed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/document-library\/application-forms\/foapman00146#group-easa-downloads\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Who has access to the submitted data?<\/h2>\n<p>The collected data\u200b\u00a0is available to competent authorities, air navigation service providers, and EU\/EEA airport operators for operational purposes<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>What data do you need to submit to the portal?<\/h2>\n<p>There are two options for submitting data to the portal:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nbaa.org\/aircraft-operations\/international\/europe\/easa-environmental-registration-deadline-fast-approaching\">Option 1<\/a> is to submit the documentation may be a stand-alone noise certificate issued by the state of registry, reflecting the configuration details, registration marks and noise data of the aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Option 1 is not applicable to U.S. or Canadian registered aircraft. This is because the Federal Aviation Administration and Transport Canada do not issue stand-alone noise data certificates.
