Fuel Alert: Fuel Shortages in Nigeria
As a result of the currency devaluation currently taking place in Nigeria, recurring fuel shortages are being reported across the country, particularly in Abuja (DNAA), Port Harcourt (DNPO) and Lagos (DNMM). Fuel suppliers across Nigeria are not able to keep an adequate supply of fuel on hand, leading to recurring shortages.
It is recommended that operators planning to travel Nigeria:
- Begin pre-planning as soon as possible and work with your international trip services provide to make arrangements and confirm availability in advance. In some instances the supplier may be unable to provide the entire amount requested.
- Provide at least 72 hours advance notice, have a firm schedule, and consider fueling on arrival in case fuel stock is depleted before departure.
- Consider tankering in fuel.
- Have cash on hand as a backup.
