Dear Valued Friends and Colleagues,

I’m writing to you personally, to inform you of some current developments at Universal.

For the last 60 years, Universal has remained the industry leader in international mission support, by remaining nimble, not resting on our past successes, and always adapting to the ever-changing needs, of our industry and customers.

Today, I’m pleased to announce that Universal has officially signed an agreement to sell our Contract Fuel Division, UVair, to World Fuel Services.

Why did we do it?

Universal has the most comprehensive, end-to-end mission management infrastructure in our industry. We integrate more phases of the mission, and we support more global trip legs than anyone else. World Fuel Services built an unparalleled, global fuel supply network. With this new agreement, our customers will continue to benefit from having Universal seamlessly manage their trips, while at the same time enjoying the advantages of World Fuel’s global fuel supply network to better support their evolving needs. Upon completion of the transaction, World Fuel Services will become the exclusive fuel provider for all missions through Universal.

This sale of the UVair Fueling Division will enable us to continue to invest and grow in the areas of:

  • Trip Support Services
  • Advanced technology for our customers
  • New and Existing FBO ground services locations around the world
  • Air Culinaire Worldwide catering network
  • Universal Private Transportation – our ground transportation division, which has just doubled in size with our new joint venture partner, Drivania
  • And in new areas where we will touch our customers tomorrow through our continually-expanding Global Footprint!

I also want to address the 800-pound gorilla in the room: “Is Universal for sale?” The answer is NO! I have no plans to sell Universal. Quite the opposite.

I love this company. I love our people. I love our customers. And I love what we’re building – together!

I’m proud of what my father founded 60 years ago in 1959, and I fully intend on guiding Universal into its third generation of Evans’ family ownership in the future. I believe we’ve just begun to scratch the surface of where we’re going as an organization.

Remember, we didn’t get to where we are today by living the status quo… and the greatest risk of all, is doing nothing at all. We have always been visionaries and pioneers, and that is NOT going to change now!

Thank you all for being a part of this amazing journey, and for allowing us to support your critical missions now and in the years to come.

Together, we are truly Moving Organizations that Move the World every day.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Thank you.

Greg
