Asia Pacific Region COVID Restrictions

Travelers from outbreak & variant virus hotspots – Many countries are restricting entry for travelers who have visited an outbreak and/or variant virus hotspot, including Brazil, India, and South Africa. Travelers from neighboring countries may also be restricted.

⚠️Omicron Update: We are not annotating every country that is banning travelers who have visited any of the eight African hotspot countries. We are annotating countries that are banning travel from countries outside of Africa that have reported Omicron infections or that have closed their borders completely. We are not including COVID pre-arrival testing requirements for most countries since it is a common requirement. Check with us for specifics.

  • Our FBOs and ground handling offices in ChinaJapanPhilippinesSingaporeSouth Korea, and Thailand all remain open and are supporting missions.
  • American Samoa – Open to vaccinated U.S. pax with special permission. No quarantine.
  • Armenia – All foreign nationals are allowed entry into Armenia with approval if they meet the Visa requirements. Fully vaccinated travelers with 14 days since final dose of vaccination and proof of vaccination will be exempt from PCR test on arrival.
  • Australia – Still predominantly closed to international travelers, with some exceptions for those from New Zealand. Accessible to travelers from the U.S. with a business exemption. As of Nov. 1, fully-vaccinated non-Australians can apply for a visa and a travel exemption for specific purposes, such as essential business. If granted, you’ll be restricted to only visiting Sydney or Melbourne. Azerbaijan. Strict testing before and after arrival. Aircraft disinfection required. Check with us for details.
  • Azerbaijan – Open to vaccinated U.S., UK, and other travelers. No quarantine required if vaccinated. Negative COVID test required for departure.
  • Bangladesh – Vaccinated travelers do not need to quarantine unless coming from high-risk countries. Pre-arrival testing required. Visa-on-arrival services are suspended until further notice. Aircraft disinfection required. Proof of hotel booking required for travelers arriving from high-risk countries.
  • Brunei Darussalam – Open to U.S. travelers. Prior approval, health insurance, mobile app, and hotel booking required. Tests on arrival on days 0, 1, 5, 12 and 14 to exit quarantine. Fully-vaccinated travelers may have shortened quarantine shortened to 7 days.
  • Cambodia – Allowing fully-vaccinated U.S. citizens and foreign nationals to enter. Visa, insurance, and test on arrival required. No quarantine when vaccinated. Visa on arrival remains suspended. Hotel booking for crew and unvaccinated travelers required. Crew must be vaccinated.
  • China – Remains highly restrictive. Testing on arrival and quarantine required for those who can get in. Universal Aviation China is in close contact with local authorities and will be reporting on the latest.
  • Fiji – Effective Dec 1, international vaccinated arrivals from Fiji’s travel partner countries, including the U.S. and UK who have stayed in these countries at least 10 days prior to coming to Fiji, are permitted for vaccinated travelers with a COVID test and travel medical insurance obtained prior to arrival. Another COVID test needed upon entry along with a 3-day quarantine. Mobile tracer app required. Aircraft disinfection required. See details online.
  • French Polynesia/Tahiti/Bora Bora/Moorea – Open for tourism to U.S. persons or persons that have been in the U.S. for the preceding 15 days. If vaccinated, you’ll need a PCR test prior to arrival, complete the online form, and take an antigen test upon entry. Quarantine not required for fully vaccinated travelers from Green and Orange countries. Aircraft disinfection required. See details online.
  • Georgia – Special permit required to enter for business purposes. Most foreign nationals must present a vaccination certificate to immigration officials. Online travel form required for entry. Air travel is permitted from any country for individuals who have completed a full course of vaccination against COVID-19.
  • Guam – Open to U.S. passengers. Vaccination required for entry. Fully vaccinated passengers with proof of FDA-approved vaccine are exempt from quarantine. COVID testing prior to arrival still required.
  • Hong Kong – More than 150 countries, including the U.S, are designated as high risk. Travelers who have stayed in Group A high-risk countries for more than 2 hours in the past 21 days are prohibited from entering Hong Kong. Crew members who have visited these countries in the past 21 days have to self-isolate at designated hotels. Travelers might be required to have proof of vaccination and hotel booking depending upon travel history. Enhanced crew testing and quarantine requirements are in place, depending upon vaccination status and travel history. All arriving passengers must undergo COVID-19 testing upon arrival and quarantine. Fully vaccinated passengers are eligible for shortened quarantine depending upon travel history.
  • India – Has resumed issuing tourist visas for tourists on chartered flights. 7-day quarantine and test required on exit. Travelers from high-risk countries need additional test on arrival. More details online.
  • Indonesia – U.S. passengers are allowed only if they have a diplomatic visa, temporary (KITAS) permit, or permanent (KITAP) permit to stay. All arriving passengers must undergo COVID-19 testing upon arrival and quarantine. Mobile app, health insurance and proof of vaccination required. Fully-vaccinated travelers with tourist visa from 18 countries (US not in list) are allowed entry (hotel booking, insurance and 5-day quarantine required).
  • Japan – In response to Omicron, an entry ban on all foreign nationals, including business flights, is in place UFN. Universal Aviation Japan is reporting on the latest.
  • Kyrgyzstan – Open to U.S. travelers. No quarantine for fully vaccinated.
  • S. Korea – Temporary suspension of Visa Waiver Agreement and Visa-Free Entry for a ~50 countries. Exceptions: Diplomatic passport holders, Arrival Crew members, APEC card holders. Effective Sept 1, foreigners entering Korea from visa-free countries must be issued K-ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) 24 hours before entering Korea. More than 20 countries, including the U.S., allowed entry without a visa. Mandatory screening on arrival, and quarantine required at government-designated facilities.
  • Laos – Fully-vaccinated tourist arrivals from select countries, including the U.S, are allowed. Test on arrival and quarantine until results known. Health insurance required.
  • Macau – All foreign visitors and the residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan who have been to other countries in the past 14 days are not allowed to enter Macau. Quarantine required. Aircraft will need to be disinfected if coming from a high-risk area. COVID test required on all outbound flights.
  • Maldives – Tourists who are fully vaccinated or recently recovered are allowed to stay at Guesthouses. Tourists must have a confirmed reservation for the entire stay. Testing required to exit country. Aircraft disinfection required.
  • New Zealand – Still predominately closed. Entry is allowed for New Zealand citizens and resident VISA holders. Request for travel to New Zealand is required and permitted travellers will require full vaccination. Travelers must obtain a Managed Isolation Allocation system voucher prior to board a flight to New Zealand. Aircraft disinfection required. Full entry details online.
  • Nepal – Officials have resumed visa on arrival and lifted quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated. Pre and post arrival testing required. Pre-booked accommodation required.
  • North Mariana Islands – Open to U.S. passengers for business, tourism, and tech stops. Vaccination required for entry. On-arrival test required. Vaccinated travellers are exempted from quarantine. Health form required.
  • Pakistan – As of Jan 5, fully vaccinated travelers allowed entry. Testing on arrival required for travelers from certain countries.
  • Palau – International traffic has officially resumed but remains restricted. Officials only allowing fully-vaccinated travelers. Quarantine required.
  • Papua New Guinea – Open for fully vaccinated travelers. No quarantine with vaccination. On arrival test required. Tourism travel is still banned.
  • Philippines – Enhanced measures in effect in response to Omicron. Depending on travel history, vaccinated and tested travelers can enter. 14-day quarantine for travelers from Green and Yellow list countries like the U.S.
  • Singapore – Is in the process of phased re-opening. Check here for eligible travelers and requirements (see “Border/Health Control Measure Summary Table” on the webpage). Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) flights are suspended until Jan 20. Quarantine required. Health insurance required. Aircraft disinfection required. Our team in Singapore can provide assistance.
  • Sri Lanka – Open. Fully-vaccinated travelers, not coming from suspended regions, can enter Sri Lanka for tourism. Online registration and quarantine testing required. Health insurance required. See details at
  • Taiwan – Foreign nationals without Alien Resident Certificates are prohibited from entering UFN. Depending on departure country, quarantine requirements vary. Leisure not allowed. Travelers must submit proof that they have suitable accommodations. Test on arrival required.
  • Tajikistan – Not accessible to most passengers, including U.S. travelers.
  • Thailand – The “test and go” quarantine exemption for travellers has been put on hold. All foreigners entering will need to spend 7-10 days in hotel quarantine. Also, the “sandbox” program which restricts tourists to a specific location has also been paused everywhere except Phuket. Mobile App, hotel booking, and health insurance required. Certificate of entry replaced by Thailand Pass QR code system, which needs to be completed 7 days prior to departure.
  • Turkmenistan – U.S. passengers are allowed for business, with prior approval through diplomatic channels. Testing upon arrival and quarantine is required in a state-run facility required. Vaccinated travelers can have quarantine period reduced to 7 days. Negative COVID test required for departure.
  • Uzbekistan – Arrivals from any “Yellow Zone” or “Red Zone” countries (like U.S.) can enter with pre-testing, self-isolation, and additional requirements. Test on arrival, day 7, and departure required. Aircraft disinfection required.
  • Vietnam – Flights require special approval from Vietnam National CDC. Proof of vaccination required. Quarantine required. Visas on arrival remain suspended. Aircraft disinfection required. Test on arrival required.
