In last Friday’s AVsavvy question, we showed you a flight schedule and some airport information and asked you to find the error.

Answer 1. Dubai, U.A.E. to Male, Maldives (OMDB-VRMM) – ROUTE: OMDB DCT ANVIX L223 TARDI N629 GIDAN P570 KITAL L894 LELEM DCT VRMM
Incorrect. This route doesn’t overfly Indian landmass.

Answer 2. Male, Maldives to Bangkok, Thailand (VRMM-VTBD) – ROUTE: VRMM DCT DOPDO G465 KAT P762 LALIT M502 AKATO DCT VTBD
Correct. A permit for India is not required unless you overfly the Indian landmass. This route happens to overfly Port Blair in the Andaman Islands, which is owned by India.

Answer 3. Male, Maldives to Dhaka, Bangladesh (VRMM-VGHS) – ROUTE: VRMM DCT DOPDO G465 KAT P762 DUGOS DCT BIDEX DCT BUBKO DCT ESDOT DCT CTG G463 KANDI DCT VGHS
Incorrect. This route doesn’t overfly Indian landmass.

Answer 4. An overflight permit is never needed when overflying India
Incorrect.
