In last Friday’s AVsavvy question, we showed you a flight schedule and some airport information and asked you to find the error.

IMPORTANT: If you haven’t yet participated, YOU CAN STILL TURN BACK NOW AND TEST YOUR SKILLS.

Below is the answer and explanation. Thank you to everyone who participated. We are happy to report a majority of you got it right. J

Answer 1. Tegucigalpa, Honduras (MHTG)
Incorrect. MHTG doesn’t require that you provide a simulator training certificate before they will allow you to land.

Answer 2. Kathmandu, Nepal (VNKT)
Correct. VNKT requires a certificate of simulator training for all instrument approaches and procedures into this airport. Also, this certificate must be submitted to CAA along with the landing permit request.

Answer 3. Saint Moritz, Switzerland (LSZS)
Incorrect. LSZS doesn’t require that you provide a simulator training certificate before they will allow you to land.

Answer 4. Funchal, Portugal (LPMA)
Incorrect. LPMA doesn’t require that you provide a simulator training certificate before they will allow you to land.

Answer 5. 2 and 3
Incorrect. Even though VNKT requires a certificate of simulator training for all instrument approaches and procedures into that airport, LSZS doesn’t need it.
