In last Friday’s AVsavvy question, we showed you a flight schedule and some airport information and asked you to find the error.
IMPORTANT: If you haven’t yet participated, YOU CAN STILL TURN BACK NOW AND TEST YOUR SKILLS.
Below is the answer and explanation. Thank you to everyone who participated. We guess this was a tough one….because, unfortunately, a majority of you got it wrong. L
Answer 1. Wrong flight level direction. Should be FL360 instead of FL350
Incorrect. F/L 350 is correct based on the direction of the flight (eastbound).
Answer 2. Can’t operate in European airspace at FL195 or above as it’s missing the necessary equipment code
Correct. The aircraft doesn’t have the Y equipment code (8.33 khz) which is required when operating in Europe at FL 195 or above, as shown below:

Incorrect. Aircraft can operate in the Atlantic but will be restricted on the flight level.
Answer 4. Can’t operate to EGSS as it’s not an airport of entry
Incorrect. EGSS is an airport of entry.
Answer 5. There are no errors on this flight plan
Incorrect. The aircraft doesn’t have the Y equipment so it won’t be able to operate at FL 350.
